Salvia divinorum, also known as Magic Mint and Diviners Sage is a plant belonging to the Mint Family.

Traditionally it has been used by the Mazatec Shamans in Oaxa, Mexico. Where it is chewed in ceremonies for spiritual use.

The mountians where it grows indigenious to certain areas on the Sierra Mazateca in Oaxaca, Mexico are shaddy and moist. The plant can grow well over a meter in height.

The naturally occuring, psychoactive chemical, Salvinorin A of the Salvia plant, when ingested it can

cause altered states of awarness. The higher the amount of Salvinorin A ingested the stronger the Salvia Divinorum experience. Salvia Divinorum is ingested by either smoking, chewing or consuming a liquid tincture of the plant extract.

Effects can usually last up to 4-6 hours when chewing, and usually not more than 25 minutes for smoking and consuming the extract.

The actually experience users receive from using the plant, can very considerably, but there are quite a few comanalities and different types of the experience can be "classified".

Some persist themes and side effects are: sweating, laughter, feeling pulled, or having gravity appear much stronger. Seeing visions and this can include: visual distortions, merging with inanimate objects, finding yourself in other world, Alice in wonderland type settings, travelling through several differnet worlds, being shown stories, seeing other beings. Some users receive new insights about their lives, or see visions commenting on their past/present/future.Auditory hallucinations are also common.

Salvia is sold online or at smoke and 'smoking accessory' stores in what are commonly known as extracts.

Extracts determine the potency of the amount of Salvinorin A in

the dry leaf.

Plain dried leaf of Salvia Divinorum typically contains 4 mg of Salvinorin A per gram.

A 5x extract therefore would contain five times this amount, aproximently 20mg, of Salvinorin A, per gram of dried leaf.

Salvia is typically sold by the ounce for dry leaf, and by the gram for the extract.

Extracts range from 5x to 90x in potency.

Prices very, but due to the large demand and increase in sales. Salvia is relatively cheap to buy. Prices are typically cheaper online due to the fact that vendors specialize in supplying these plants and buy in bulk.

$8 a gram for an extract is availible at Bouncing Bear Botanicals, one of our favorite retailers. Besides being reliable, they have probably the best selection of the most interested and LEGAL psychedellic plants you've ever seen. We also like Arena Ethnobotanical as they also deliver on time, accept paypal, and still have a great variety of plants to choose from. Both of these companies supplied great products on time, each time we bought from them. They are totally trustworthy, and we should mention, feel free to contact them at their customer service. :)

P.S. As a bonus, I did some searching and came across coupon codes for both these two companies and thought I'd share them here..

ARENA at Arena Ethnobotanicals gets you FREE shipping. And..

Future10 and FREESHIP and Bouncing Bear Botanicals, gets you 10% off your order AS WELL as FREE shipping.

Train
by Rael Paul

"I FEEL THAT TRAIN a'comin'..." There is often a great anticipation of a powerful force headed my way, or of me heading toward it, often accompanied by a brightness, a washed-out white light. At lower doses it can pass me by, at higher doses it slams into me, and I associate it somewhat with the Membrane.

This work also represents the multidimensional, Escher-like feeling of multiple planes of gravity. Which way is up? I sometimes feel that if a person could physically walk into another dimension, she might find herself face-to-face with a floor or a ceiling and be forced to reorient, perhaps by "falling sideways".

A Safe Trip with Salvia Divinorum..

While many websites provide basic Salvia instructions or full blown user guides.. (see: The Salvia Divinroum User's Guide). We thought we'd add in our own two cents and talk about how we like to trip..

But first, watch this YOUTUBE VIDEO..!

The reason why where sharing this is that it offers a PERFECT example of a safe salvia trip, in an appropriate enviroment.

1. It's not in public.

2. It's not at a party, (better to be safe with less noise).

3. It's at home with someone you trust.

Next, We would like you to watch this youtube video..

got through it? Basically Elmer discovers something very sacred about Salvia (that is an incredibly beautifal vision) and receives some insight from "a lady singing in the clouds."

"That simpleness to the earth, that's what earth wants. Earth wants us to be their children again.."

I find that quite beautifal. I think, (and hope) that if you approach Salvia in the right way, and that if you ARE repectful, it just might help your trip..

Do what feels right to you. Reflect of why you are choosing to use this plant. Do you have a goal is there something you wish to experience or discover? Be respectful, say thank you to the plant, reflect upon it growing from the earth for months, if not YEARS before it landed in your hands :)

Know your intent (if you have one) for using and speak it clearly :).

I think that taking time to be respectful can definitely score you some points. People who do use the plant on an on going basis, develope a relationship with it and it shows them things.. So saying thanks and taking time to honour it for its visions is defintiely a good tactic.

What's it like to trip on Salvia?

What is a Salvia trip like?

"For the first time, one hit was enough. I felt my lungs start to tingle, I think I told my friends that the Salvia was indeed active & potent, then I was gone. Absolutely, inconceivably gone. It was like I had just woken up into another totally different reality." -trip report posted on Erowid.org

Now you've probably been on Youtube, watching people trip on Salvia Divinorum, but what the heck is a Salvia trip like? In this article we are going to explore the commonalities of salvia users, among those who partake in an intense (higher dose) visual experience.

To start off, and for the best trip, Salvia is not a party drug and should not be used as such. Traditionally its purpose has been as a Shamanic tool for vision quests and healing.

Browsing through the trip reports at Erowid.org, several different persistant themes arise as commonalities in what Salvia users experience.

*NOTE* Salvia trips range in intensity from subtle to extremely powerful, and the following common themes are relevant to those partaking in a full-blown salvia divinorum trip.

10 common things:

1st thing: Salvia can cause you to completely leave your current reality to end up somewhere totally new, bizarre, fascinating and/or threatening. Several trip reports talk of the users experiencing a "falling away" or "un zipping" of current reality, and being tele-ported, (or now within) many other worlds and dimensions.

2nd thing: Laughing, many users experience life and things as hilarious and cannot stop laughing for a period of time. They may find themselves in some other realm or a new dimension or just experience some odd sensation in their bodies, and cannot help but laugh hysterically. This usually happens at the onset

3rd thing: Many accounts talk of users experiencing their lives as "unreal." As if their life up until that point have been a fake, contrived joke played on them. Many reports talk of ending up on some strange game show and experiencing their daily lives as an unreal conspiracy, like the Truman show, everyone was playing a role until they figured it out.

4th thing: Many Salvia users experience a "pull" sensation on their bodies, or that they are having an out of body experience. Sometimes it's as if something, or some force is pulling them to the side, or to the ground or in any which direction, causing them to be stuck or stretched. Many users experience their limbs being stretched out and bending at weird angels, around them, completely against the design of what they are capable. Others may feel as if they are leaving their bodies and literally outside of their bodies.

5th thing: We said it before but we'll say it again, and that is hallucinations. Users can experience reality as no longer being anything like "normal" or only minimally so, as things morph, melt, vibrate and fade away into all eternity. Other beings may appear, some may be benevolent guides, and some may not. Dimensions may appear. Users may be pulled through different 'doors.'

6th thing: In many of the worlds Salvia users experience, places seem to be rotating and folding in and out of themselves in a kind of hyperspace dimension. There is no up or down, but an overall alive changing dimension to experience.

7th thing: Many users experiences visions, either going back to childhood, or witnessing a future event and being foretold the future. Some may be of a healing nature. It seems there is guidance at work with Salvia and it can offer a very rewarding experience to the user.

8th thing: Users may experience themselves as an inanimate object. Such as a box, garden hose or children's toy. They may witness reality from this new perspective, AS the object. They may literally BE a children's toy, or a garden hose watching peoples' lifetime go by in the garden.

9th thing: Voices may be heard. They may be chanting, talking gibberish, offering advice, or other beings may also speak to the individual.

10th thing: Sweating. Almost all Salvia users report feeling hot and sweating buckets after using the plant. This is quite normal.

Although you cannot take a fatal overdose of Salvia, and it is not habit forming, this plant deserves the utmost respect. It is incredibly powerful. Not all the experiences described here will happen to you if you smoke Salvia leaves. All the experiences described here cover some of most intense "visionary/dream-world" patterns that seem to occur with Salvia, and in fact it is highly recommended you do your own research before undertaking ANY of your own experience with the plant.
